William Oscar Mueller, 88, died on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Stewartville Care Center.

William was born on August 18, 1934 in McVille, ND to Albert and Marian Mueller.  He attended Norway #2 Country School near McVille.  During William's senior year, the family moved to Fargo, ND, where Bill graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran School.  After graduation Bill moved to Santa Monica, CA and stayed with his sister, Patricia and her husband Odvar Holm.  In 1958 he enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Frankfurt, Germany where he was able to do some traveling before returning home to California.

William married Judy Mlnarik on October 21, 1961 in Brunswick, NE.  The couple moved back to Santa Monica, CA, but in 1975 they moved to La Crescent, MN where they raised their family until 1998 when Bill retired. They were married for 56 years until the death of his wife in 2017.

William belonged to the American Legion for many years.  He also became and active member of the Lion's Club in Holcombe, WI, where he was the chairman of the Lion's Campground, taking care of the camp and the people that camped there.  William's work at the campground got him nominated and selected for the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 2005.

William is survived by his son, Travis (Jennifer) Mueller; two grandchildren, Harper and Violet; his sister, Annalea (Peter) Locken; nieces, Annette Dubord, Nancy Vihlen; nephew, Randall Holm and many great-nieces and nephews.

The memorial gathering will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.  Military honors and committal service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Family,  Travis and Jennifer Mueller,              2312 Lenwood Dr SW, Rochester, MN 55902, who will donate them to a number of charities Bill and his family support.

The family would like to thank everyone that cared for and provided support to William over the last five years since Judy passed.
