William K. Fessler- Rochester

Bill Fessler, 89, of Rochester, MN died Sunday, February 28, 2021 while at home surrounded by family.

Bill was born August 1st 1931, in Kansas City Missouri to William and Virginia (Florea) Fessler.  He graduated from the University of Missouri having starred in Football and Track.  Bill served in the Air Force from 1954-1956. On May 18th, 1957, he married Rosemary Kies in Jesup, IA.   They moved from Kansas City Missouri in 1965 to Rochester, and have lived there ever since.

Bill first began his teaching in Rochester at John Marshall High School and moved to Mayo High School when it first opened.  He coached Girls Golf at Mayo, Assistant Football Coach at Rochester Community College, and Head Basketball Coach at Rochester Community College, before retiring in 1994.

Bill was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, Rosie of over 64 years, and anything involving his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary, sister Mimi Amborosi (Kansas City), daughters Laurie Peterson and Lynn Fessler both of Rochester, son Steve Fessler of Hanover, MN, five Grandchildren, Travis (Michelle) Mason, Brooke (Casey) Sullivan, Taylor and Jordan Noltee, Trey Fessler, and five great Grandchildren.

The Memorial Mass for close family and friends (due to COVID19 restrictions) will be held on Thursday March 4th, 2021 at 11:00AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church (1315 12th Av. NW, Rochester, MN 55901). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers please send memorials to St. Pius X Catholic Church, or Mayo Clinic Hospice, Rochester, MN.
