Bill Aufenthie, age 73 of Rochester, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 26, 2015 following a year-long battle with cancer.
Bill was born on September 17, 1941 in Rochester to Roscoe and Lucille Aufenthie. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1959. In 1961, he married Elizabeth Huiting, and were later divorced. Together, they had three children. On May 19, 1990, he married Darleen Parkinson in Blooming Prairie, MN. After working for the Kahler Hotel briefly, Bill worked for the US Postal Service in Rochester. He was later the Postmaster of Blooming Prairie, MN. Following retirement, he worked in Rochester as a PERA-Professional at Century High School known as "Brother Bill" for ten years. Bill loved golf, gardening and playing poker. He was a collector of coins, and a gun expert. He was a special father-figure to Darleen's children.
Survivors include his wife Darleen, Bill's children: Jeffrey (Patricia) Aufenthie of Bruce, FL, Scot Aufenthie of Minneapolis, Jaime (Mark) Stolp of Oronoco. Darleen's children: Jeffrey Parkinson of Rochester, Kenneth (Stacey) Parkinson of Millville, and Deborah Van Heiden of Rochester. Bill's siblings: Bruce (Linda) Aufenthie of Rochester, Cathy (Paul) Kinyon of Rochester, and Jackie Salisbury of Spokane, WA. His grandchildren: Cassy Knudson, Rick Van Heiden, Barb Parkinson, Cody Parkinson, McKenna Parkinson, Savannah Parkinson, Sierra Parkinson, Samantha Parkinson, Katlin Aufenthie, Julia Aufenthie and two great-grandchildren: Cailey Knudson and Johathyn Jervis along with several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers James and John, and his grandson, Charles Van Heiden.
A Memorial Service for Bill will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 1:00pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, March 30, 2015 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM in the River Park Chapel and one hour prior to the service. Burial of Bill's Ashes will be in the Millville, MN Cemetery.
