Wanda Fieck Bethke, 90, died on December 8, 2017 at Shorewood Senior Commons in Rochester.
Wanda Marie Hampel was born in Elgin, MN on November 20, 1927, to Joseph Fredrick and Alice Clara (Rosenlund) Hampel. She attended Trinity Lutheran School for grades 1 through 8, and graduated from Rochester High School in 1945. She attended Rochester Community College and later worked in the Mayo Laboratory for 30 years, retiring as a Clerical Supervisor at St. Mary's Hospital in 1990.
On December 15, 1946, she married W. Calvin Fieck Jr. They made their home and raised their three children in Rochester. Calvin died on November 18, 1993.
On June 5, 1995, she married Lester Bethke. They spent many years traveling and volunteering together. Lester died on August 25, 2011.
Wanda was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she participated in Altar Society, Bible Study Fellowship, Church Circle, Federal Prison Bible Study, and Federal Prison Hospice. She volunteered her time to help with the Orphan Grain Train, mail church newsletters, deliver flowers at St. Mary's, and bake cookies for the Ronald McDonald House. She also enjoyed music, gardening, sewing, and quilting.
She is survived by her three children, Marilyn (Thomas) Grossbach of Mazeppa, Wayne (Beth) Fieck of Rochester, Darwin (Louann) Fieck of Millville; three grandchildren, Alice (Christopher) Henderson, Colin (Andrea) Fieck, and Joseph (Megan) Fieck; and 4 great-grandchildren, Xander, McKenzie, Cameron, and Brynlee.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and her brother, Norman Hampel.
The Memorial Service for Wanda will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 11:00AM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Robert A. Lentz officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the River Park Chapel.
