Vivian June Wintrick, 91, of Rochester passed away on Saturday, March 5, at Cottagewood Senior Communities following a short illness.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester with Pastor Maurice E. Hagen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN.
Vivian was born on March 23, 1924 in Waukon, Iowa to Mary and Chris Reinhardt. She attended high school in Waukon. Vivian married Arthur Milburn Smith on April 26, 1941. Arthur died in 1948. Vivian later married Christopher A. Wintrick on June 30, 1949. They were engaged in farming in Allamakee County in northeast Iowa until they moved to Rochester, Minnesota in 1969. Vivian was employed at Rochester Methodist Hospital in the Dietary Department until her retirement in 1988. She then worked as a banquet waitress at the Kahler Hotel for many years.
She enjoyed her home and family, loved to bake and knit and crochet. She crocheted doilies, small and large afghans which she gave away to family and friends,as well as baby afghans which she donated to the Crisis Nursery in Rochester. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States including Hawaii and 2 trips to Alaska.
Vivianis survived by her daughters Evelyn Posthumus of Rochester, Marcia Pavek of Jacksonville, Florida and son Donald Wintrick of Tampa, Florida; sisters Zola Dailey of Springfield, Oregon and Shirley Pfeil of St. Paul, Minnesota; brothers Alton Reinhardt of Wisconsin and Lyle Reinhardt of St. Paul, MN; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters (Margaret, Colleen, Donna), 3 brothers (Nathan, Dale, Virgil) and 3 sons (Elmer Smith, Larry Smith, James Wintrick). Memorials can be made to Vivian's family.
