Virginia Frances Rossman, 91, of Rochester, MN, died peacefully Monday, July 6, 2020 at Edenbrook of Rochester Nursing Home.

Virginia was born November 25, 1928 in Rochester, MN to Michael and Frances (Haggerty) Hofschulte. She went to Olmsted County Schools and graduated from Elgin High School going on to Preston and Winona teacher's colleges and taught in Olmsted County Schools from 1947 to 1953. She married Robert L. Rossman at St. Francis Church in Rochester on June 11, 1952. The couple resided in their Northeast Rochester home since 1957.

Virginia enjoyed gardening, cooking, painting, sewing, and writing on family history. She took pride in being a mother, a homemaker, and being involved in her children's activities and 4H.

Virginia is survived by her nine children Steven (Diane) Rossman of Madison, WI, Dennis (Susan) Rossman of Altura, MN, Richard (Debra) Rossman of Bemidji, MN, Michael (Dawn) Rossman of Byron, MN, Charles Rossman of St. Paul, MN, Susan (Mark) Hinrichs of Zumbrota, MN, Joseph Rossman of Mantorville, MN, Jane Rossman of Rochester, MN, and Lee Rossman of Byron, MN; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Carol Hopman of Coon Rapids, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law Larry Hofschulte of Rochester, MN, Dawayne (Daphne) Hofschulte of Ronan, Montana, and Betty Hofschulte of Silver Bay, MN; in-laws Mary Rossman of Rochester, MN, Pat (Harlen) Hebig of Rochester, MN, Ann (Bill) Herman of California, Bill Rossman of Eyota, MN, and Frances O'Brien of Kasson, MN.

She is preceded in death by parents and her husband Robert Rossman; siblings Gene (Lenore) Hofschulte, Carl Hofschulte, and Juneus (Dale) Ristau; in-law Janet Hofschulte, Margaret (Russell) Jones, Eilean O'Brien, and Rita (John) Daywitt.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday July 11, 2020 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
