Obituary

Vincent William Stienessen, 80 of Rochester passed peacefully on June 28, 2021 at Rochester West Health Services.

Vince was born on May 15, 1941 in Canby, MN to William Edward and Ruth Milenase (Caron) Stienessen. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1959. He enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in France as a MP. He returned to SE, Minnesota and worked as a Union Plumber. The majority of his working career was spent with HiMec Inc. in Rochester. He was proud to complete many projects for the Mayo Clinic including the Guggenheim-Hilton Buildings. On August 9th, 1969 he married Virginia Rauen at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, MN. Rochester was their home. Vince was a devout Catholic, and his faith was extremely important to him. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, camping (especially on the Mississippi River) and many trips up-north. He enjoyed being a member of the Knights of Columbus and Rochester Eagles Club. His granddaughters were the light of his life. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife Virginia of Rochester, his son Mike (Jenn, Autumn, Piper) of Winona, his daughter Chris (Jim) Logan of Rochester, granddaughters Hope and Eve Logan, siblings Rosie Cade, Dan, Joe (Dawn), Tom (Ann), Jude (Jim) Cornaggia, Mary (John Quinn) Stienessen, Rita (Steve) Heise, and Pat (Rahn) Sass.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Charlotte (Bob) Thrasher, brother-in-law David Cade, and sister-in-law Deloris Stienessen.

The Memorial Service for Vince will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 10:30AM at Pax Christi Catholic Church with Father John Sauer officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, July 2, 2021 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Immediately following this visitation, the family invites all to join them at the Rochester Eagles Club. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial of his ashes will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Preston, MN at a later date.
