Vernon Gene Walterman, age 69 of Rochester, died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at St Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Vern was born in Spring Valley, MN, the son of Elmer and Evelyn (DeBoer) Walterman. He graduated from Spring Valley High School. He was united in marriage to Nancy Trabert March 16, 1974 in Rochester. He started working at Crenlo, and later moved on to Waters Instruments where he worked 20 years. He also worked for Geotech until September 2018. Vern was a hard worker, and enjoyed watching the 5 o'clock news.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, John Walterman of Rochester, and Steve (Jessica) Walterman of Byron; five grandchildren, Dylan, Bailey, Gracie, Devon, and Liam; brothers, Raymond (Cheryl) Walterman of Mocksville, NC, and  Ronald (Marilyn) Walterman of Racine, MN; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick (Phyllis) Trabert of Eagan, MN, Pat (Dayton) Younger of Rochester, and Alvin Trabert of Rochester.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Gerald Walterman.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 19, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service. The funeral service for Vernon will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Maurice E. Hagen officiating. Interment will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
