“Tuck” Moore

Thomas Orville Moore of Rochester, Minnesota passed away on November 4, 2021 at his home.
Thomas was born October 19,1927 in Rochester, Minnesota.
Tom was united in marriage to Doris (Dory) Reilly on June 3,1948. He graduated from Rochester High School June 30, 1945 and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Distinction on July 19,1952. He was in the Army Airborne Division as a Parachutist in April 10, 1947. They moved to Woodbridge, Virginia while in the service on October 7, 1952. They returned to Rochester and rented a home for a while. Then bought their first home later on.
He started his new job at Rochester Olmsted County (Retired-Land Use, Transportation, Comprehensive Planning and Zoning, Subdivsion Review, Annexation and Staff Manager.
Tom was an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church since his childhood. He was also an active member in the Lions Club, and American Legion.
He was a lifetime member of the National Society of Professional Engineer and the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers 2007. In 2007 the Minnesota Chapter of the American Planning Association gave him a Lifetime Achievement Award. Planning Director, City of Rochester, Rochester Olmsted, Combined Planning Department 1956 to 1986.
He retired with 33 years of service of the County of Olmsted Consolidated Planning Department.
Minnesota Golf Association presented him an award for executing a HOLE-IN ONE October 12, 2012 on the Par 3, 145 Yard, 3 Rd Hole using a 3 Hybrid at Maple Valley Golf & Country Club. He loved to golf whenever he could. After retirement he usually golfed twice a day.
In the winter his love was Downhill Skiing. He skied around here Rochester Ski Hill, Welch and many others. He loved going to the Colorado Mountains. Keystone, Aspen, Breckenridge, Copper, Vail and Loveland are a few.
Tom is survived by his: wife Dory Moore of Rochester, Thomas W. Moore (Gloria), Kathy (Jim) Finseth. Grandkids, Thomas Jason Moore (Donnie), Jessica Paulsen (Scott), Gabe Finseth (Crystal), Great Grandkids: Cary Moore, Hailey Moore, Madisyn Tjepkes (Michael), Audrey Timm, Brayden Paulsen, Caleb Finseth and Karlie Finseth, And a Great Great Granddaughter: Willow Michelle Moore. His kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were his pride and joy for sure. (Besides his loving wife of 71 years!)
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Norma Moore, Brother: Bill Moore, and Nehews: Michael Moore, Rob Moore and Ricky Moore.
A Private Memorial Service Will Be Held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota, Officiated By Pastor Adam Koglin.
