Theron Ronald “Ron” Burrington
August 13, 2026
Ron was peacefully welcomed into God’s arms on August 13 while surrounded by family members.
Ron was born on September 11, 1940, in Richland Center, Wisconsin to Theron Romaine “Bud” and Veda Grace (Tiser) Burrington. He attended Richland Center High School where he met the love of his life, Barbara Joan Sherman. They were married on September 28, 1958. They eventually moved to Rochester, Minnesota and raised their children – James, Mark, Lisa, Julie. He raced stock cars in the area for a few years. He serviced vending machines for several years before changing his career to city bus driver, which he held for 48 years. When driving for Rochester City Lines, he drove the charter bus hauling bingo enthusiasts to Treasure Island Resort & Casino, earning him the title of Captain Bingo. Outside of work he enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, and playing bingo at the casino. He enjoyed setting up at flea markets with Joan as well as watching the MN Twins and MN Vikings. He loved talking with people and was always the jokester, serving up wise cracks on a regular basis.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law Ken (Janet) Burrington, sister Sandra (Gordy) Davis, son James, and great grandson Odin. He is survived by his wife Joan, son Mark (Andrea Drury), daughters Lisa (John) Butrum, Julie (Brian) Krank, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Ron’s life is scheduled for Sunday September 13, 11 am to 2 pm, at Rochester Eagles Club, 917 15th Avenue SE, Rochester.
