Obituary

The funeral for Terry "Grumpy" Sell will be at 11:00am on Thursday February 6th 2014 at Macken Funeral Home River Park Chapel with Pastor Brian Egelston officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday February 5 th 2014 at Macken Funeral Home River Park Chapel and one hour prior to services.

Terry Sell, 62, of Mantorville, MN, died Friday January 31, 2014 peacefully at his home.

Terry was born May 6, 1951in Black River Falls, WI to Eldon Sell and Arlene Piel. He grew up on a farm outside of Augusta, WI where he graduated from Augusta High School playing football and wrestled. After graduation he worked as a farm laborer, then owned and operated his own feed business and fertilizer business. He also worked at Schmitt Printing and IBM as fork lift driver. At one time he owned Grumpy's Chuckwagon café in Mantorville. He was very involved in a variety of activities, most notably the promotion of bike trails in Dodge County and throughout the state of MN. Even though injuries from a fire left him in a wheelchair, he could still be seen rolling   through the halls of the State Senate building in pursuit of support for state legislation.

Terry was actively involved in many organizations including; past President of Southern MN Association of Regional Trails(SMART), past Treasurer of SMART, member, past president and one of founding members of Dodge County Trails and active member of the Mantorville Senior Center. Previous offices held include MN Trails Legacy Committee, Mantorville Restoration Association, Head chair of Marigold Days and chaired the committee that built the original Mantorville float. Charter member of Mantorville EDA, Dodge County EDA, Mantorville City Council, Kasson-Mantorville Lions Club and Olde Tyme Days Tractor Pull.  Delegate for AMPI Young Cooperative Board. Also a member of the Jaycees where he won numerous project awards

Terry married Susan Marshall October 6 th 1979.

He is survived by his wife Susan,; daughter Cyndi Seiwert of Maple Grove, MN; two sons, Chris (Billie) of Mankato, MN and Brandon (Heather) of Lake City, MN,; mother Arlene Piel of Menomonie, WI,; siblings Shirlene Sell of Taylor, WI, Luanne (Dennis) Flick of Menomonie, WI, Karla Sell of Wauwatosa, WI, Jennings Sell of Winchester, CA, Andrew Sell of Augusta WI and Stanley Sell of Augusta, WI; and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Eldon Sell and brother Jerome Sell.
