The funeral Mass for Susan M. Bernard will be 10:00 am Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the River Park Chapel of the Macken Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.  Burial will be in Pleasant Prairie Cemetery, Rochester.

Sue died unexpectedly, but peaceful, at her home due to complications from an ongoing health issue on Sunday, October 5, 2014.

Sue, 48, of Rochester was born August 21, 1966 in Rochester.  She attended St. Pius Grade School and later graduated from Lourdes High School in 1985.  Following high school, she graduated from RCTC as a Medical Lab Technician.  In 1990 she graduated from Western Michigan University as a Physicians Assistant.  At the time of her death she had been employed with Hiawatha Homes Inc. where she had worked 13 years.

Sue married Roger Bernard in 1990 and they were later divorced.  In her younger years she was active in 4-H, winning many awards.  She loved horses and continued participating in horse competitions throughout her life. She enjoyed watching movies, and there were no animals that she didn't love.

Survivors include her father Joseph (Barb) Vroman and mother Geraldine (Jim) Griffin, both of Rochester;  two brothers, Richard (Jennifer) Vroman of Louisburg, NC and Daniel (Cherie) Vroman of Plymouth, MN.  Sue is also survived by step-siblings Michael (Mavis) Griffin, Brian (Denise) Griffin,  Maureen Griffin, Kristi Schultz, Scott Hovland, James (Nicolle) Hovland, Jonathan (Molly) Hovland and Cory Hovland. Also surviving are 3 nephews and 15 step-nephews and nieces.
