Shirley Jane Parry, born November 6, 1939, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at White Pines Sr. Living in Mendota Heights, MN.

Shirley lived a life defined by love, perseverance, kindness, and compassion. Shirley devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and raising her two sons, James Parry and Christopher Parry. She considered being their mother her greatest accomplishment in life. More than anything, she wanted to raise them to be kind, compassionate people who cared about others. She took great pride in the men they became and in the values she had worked so hard to instill in them. Shirley’s life was not always easy. She faced difficult times and circumstances, yet she continued to choose kindness. She believed in treating people with compassion and giving others grace, even when life had not always given her the same in return. Her strength was reflected not in how loudly she spoke, but in the quiet way she continued to care for others. An avid reader, Shirley found countless hours of enjoyment within the pages of a book. Over her lifetime, she read thousands of books, with historical fiction and murder mysteries among her favorite genres. She also loved listening to classic country music, finding comfort and companionship in the familiar songs she enjoyed. Shirley will be remembered for her gentle heart, her resilience, her love of reading, music, her cats, and most of all, for the love she gave her family. Her greatest legacy will live on through her sons and grandchildren and the kindness and compassion she worked so hard to pass on to them. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

She is survived by her sons James “Jim” (Melanie) Parry of Stewartville and their children Jack, Jordan and Abigail, son Christopher “Chris” Parry of Onalaska, WI, and his children Annika and Caralyn.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Edna Anderson, and her brother Harlan Anderson.

A private memorial service for Shirley will be held at a later date.
