Shawn K. Sagdalen 51, of Rochester passed on to his next stage Friday, December 14 surrounded by family and friends. He lost his fight after suffering an unexpected cardiac arrest a week before.

Shawn was born October 26, 1967 to Alden and Martha Sagdalen in Rochester. Shawn lived most of his life in Rochester, attending Rochester Public Schools and graduating from Mayo High School in 1986.  He worked at Methodist Hospital, Rochester Public Schools and later for the Mayo Clinic. He married Kimberly Riege on July 7, 2001. Shawn enjoyed time with family and friends, collecting sports cards, memorabilia and eagles. He also loved traveling to Texas and Mexico.

Shawn is survived by his mother, Martha Sagdalen; wife, Kimberly; and daughter, Amy Sagdalen (Mitch Bennerotte). He is also survived by his sisters, Sheila (Billy) Edwards, Michele Virnig, Cheri (David) Roerish, and Stacey (Mark) Szuberski; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alden Sagdalen; and grandparents, Melvin and Eva Sagdalen, and Carl and Wilma DeGarmo.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home (1105 12th St SE, Rochester) and one hour prior to the service in the chapel on Friday. Stories of Shawn would be happily accepted. A luncheon will follow services in the Masonic Center basement in the back of building 2002 2nd St SW, Rochester.
