Scharlene Fay Schroeder, age 65 of Rochester passed away on July 10, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital following a battle with cancer.

Scharlene Fay Gommels was born on June 7, 1947 in Hayfield, MN to Frederick and Helen Gommels. She graduated from Hayfield High School. On March 30, 1968 she married Daniel G. Schroeder in Austin, MN. Along with being a devoted homemaker, she worked for Plants P.S. and did daycare in Rochester. She loved camping, traveling to warm destinations, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Dan of over 43 years, a son Gary (Jennifer) of Dexter, daughter Angela (Darren) of Rochester, grandchildren Jacob, Dalton, and Korey Schroeder, and a sister Carol (Mike) Mestad of Rock Dell, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a sister.

A memorial service for Scharlene is planned for 2:00pm on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church with Pastor Karna Hagen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery.
