Sandra “Sandi”
Schommer
January 19, 1990 – January 9, 2024
Sandra Marie (Sandi) Schommer – Minneapolis
Sandra Marie Schommer, 33, of Minneapolis, MN, after a year long, very hard, battle with leukemia, died Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, at her childhood home in Rochester MN, surrounded by her loved ones.
Sandi was born January 19, 1990, in Rochester, MN to Peter and Martha (Strabala) Schommer. She graduated from Lourdes High School, Rochester, MN in 2008, and in 2012 from St. Cloud State University with a degree in psychology.
She worked a variety of jobs but was most excited about her work as a Youth Counselor which she did during the last number of years in Minneapolis, MN. She was incredibly passionate about her kids at St. Joes, always planning new fun things to keep them engaged.
Besides her "one and only" Damon, Sandi's other love was for Tinkerbell. Always sweet and a little spunky, she never wanted to grow up.
Sandi doted over her eight nieces and nephews. Her job as Auntie Sandi was her most important one. She would always plan activities to keep the kids entertained. There was never a dull moment when she babysat. Sandi loved doing puzzles and logic puzzles, relaxing in the neighborhood wading pool, pampering herself with home spa days, watching movies, and playing games.
She is survived by fiancé Damon Wrobleski; Joie Schmitt; parents Peter & Marti Schommer, Korin & Steve Lindstrand; sisters Karla (Jack) Broadrick, Patti (John) Uhal, and Michaela Schommer; brother Tim (Natasha) Schommer and Cavan (Sarahi) Wrobleski; grandmother Mary Anne Strabala; grandfather Francis Schommer; and nieces and nephews: Angela, Ellie, Michael, Lucas, Benjamin, Avery, Naomi, and Nathan. She was preceded in death by cousin Joshua Schommer; grandfather Lynne Strabala; grandmother Germaine Schommer, and grandmother Coni Valentine.
Visitation will be held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home Sunday January 14, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a Rosary and time for sharing memories at 4:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at Pax Christi Catholic Church.
