The funeral service for Ruth V. Smith will be at 11:00AM Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Macken Funeral Home, with the Rev. Linda Helberg officiating.  Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Mrs. Smith, 90, of Rochester passed away Tuesday, (August 17, 2010) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Ruth Veronica Vanderberg was born on June 4th, 1920 in Waseca .  On August 19, 1939 she married Elmer Smith.  Mr. Smith passed away in 1998.

Over the years, Ruth worked for Waters-Conley, the Plummer House and Wong's Cafe.  She was also a homemaker.

Ruth was a life-long resident of Rochester.  She had resided at Golden Living East for the past seven years.   She enjoyed gardening, baking and playing bingo and cards.

Survivors include, 3 daughters, Betty (Curt) Kohn of Rochester, Barb (Terry) Haaf of Starbuck, MN, Linda Theiman of Elk Grove CA; 2 sons, Don Smith of Rochester and Charles (Cathy) Smith of Rochester.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; 2 sons, Harry and Larry; 2 grandsons, Todd Smith and Neil Smith; her parents, Christian and Margaret Vanderberg; one brother, Gordon Vanderberg; one sister, Florence Renaux; and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Smith.

Friends may call Friday, August 20, 2010 from 5:00PM – 8:00PM at Macken Funeral Home and one half hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
