The funeral mass for Ruth M. Nelson will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Simpson, MN with the Rev. Matt Fasnacht and Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.  Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Macken Funeral Home and one-half hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Mrs. Nelson, 100, of Rochester, Minn., died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester, MN.

Ruth was born August 15, 1910 to John and Mary (Dilworth) O'Connell in Olmsted County.

On June 5, 1934 she married Ervin "Bud" B. Nelson at St. Bridget's Church, Simpson, Minn.  The couple farmed in Olmsted County.  Ervin passed away on January 11, 1978.

Survivors include two sons, David E. (Carole) and Cyril "Cy" P. (Maxine) Nelson , both of Rochester, Minn., a daughter, Janet (Raymond) Quandt of Stewartville, Minn., 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; son, John; 3 sisters and one grandson, Terry Quandt.
