Hein
March 13, 1935 – June 28, 2025
Ruth Caroline Hein, born on March 13, 1935, passed away peacefully on June 28 at Saint Mary's Hospital. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family. Ruth was born in Newton, IA to Henry and Hattie Gruenhaupt. She attended school in Grinnell, IA and following, she graduated from Nursing school at Saint Mary's school of Nursing in Rochester on June 2, 1957. She met Alvin Hein Jr. in Rochester and the two later married on December 29, 1957. They were blessed with three children.
Ruth had a passion for sewing and took great joy in crafting various items for her family and friends. Her creations, made with love and care, were treasured by everyone who received them.
Ruth found beauty in the simplest things in nature. She loved collecting seashells and rocks, which she often displayed proudly in her home and at the cabin. She also had a special affection for owls, butterflies, and flowers, finding joy and inspiration in their presence.
Ruth found great joy in gardening, spending time at the family cabin, and visiting with friends. She was also an avid sewer, generously donating her time and talents to Bundles of Love, where she made a significant impact on many lives with her handcrafted items.
Ruth was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Alvin Hein, and her parents. She is survived by her children David (Debi), Kristi, and Jeff (Shelly); her grandchildren Michael, Miranda, Cole, and Riley; her great-grandchildren Zamara, Sam, Nik, and Nori, and her brother Lee Gruenhaupt (Fran).
