Rosann A.
“Rosie” Morrow
May 12, 1935 – February 8, 2014
Rosie Morrow, 78, of Rochester, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary's campus, following complications related to a short illness.
Rosie was born in Conception Parish in rural Kellogg on May 12, 1935, where she was raised and educated. She later moved to Rochester, MN where she married R. Larry Morrow Sr. on June 18th, 1955 at St. John's Church in Rochester, MN where they made their home. They later divorced. In the years following her move to Rochester, she was a homemaker, worked at the Mayo Clinic and was kept young at heart and sharp-witted by the constant shenanigans of her five children. Rosie's love, creativity and guidance spilled out beyond her family as she taught ceramics classes out of her home, engaged herself in the St. Pius X church community, the Red Hat Society, the Festival of Trees, and became and instant member of the extended families of many people she met. Rosie loved gardening, traveling, and outings with friends. By carefully selecting and personalizing Christmas ornaments each year, sending personalized cards on even the most minor holidays, and planning frequent fun excursions, Rosie showered her affection on grandchildren.
Rosie's answer to many questions was "Why not?" and she even taught her own children a thing or two about having fun.
She taught her children how to give world-class hugs, how to be a constant mother, the importance of a family supper around a home-cooked meal (including the dire consequences of not cleaning one's plate), and how to have an open mind about the world.
Rosie is survived by her sister Rita Meyer, of Wabasha, MN; her brother Marvin Meyer of Andover, MN; children Ron Morrow of Owatonna, MN, Julie (Jim) Hanson of Rochester, MN, Terry (Jeff) Brinkman of St. Charles, MN, Lauri (Phil) Louwagie of Rochester, MN and Jeannie (Tim) McGovern of Bloomington, MN; grandchildren Brandy Croy, Candee Morrow, Derrick Morrow, Angela Hanson, Jessica Brinkman, Brianna Brinkman, Andrea Louwagie, Tim Louwagie, Matthew McGovern, and Nora McGovern; and, great-grandchildren Angelique, Trisha, Alexander, Brandon and Logan.
Rosie is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Rose Meyer, and brothers Donald, Richard and Eugene Meyer.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1315 12th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901, with Father Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00pm – 8:00pm Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Thursday.
