Ronald Raymond Lehnertz, 84, died peacefully Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN surrounded by his loved ones. Ron was born June 11, 1936, in Winona, MN, to Raymond and Gertrude Lehnertz. After graduation from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Rollingstone, MN, he moved to Minneapolis to attend Dunwoody College of Technology. This began his 33 year career as a Machinist Tool & Die Inspector at IBM Rochester, MN, where he retired at the age of 55.
On August 16, 1958, he married his beautiful bride, Rita Lemmer, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Minneiska, MN. He was an amazing father to his four children that he raised with his wife Rita, teaching them the values of kindness, work ethic, and family.
Ron especially enjoyed family-time with his children, camping, fishing, and trips up-north. He was always willing to lend a hand and open his heart to anyone in need.
After retirement, Ron enjoyed many years of woodworking out in the shop he built in his garage. This is where he loved creating beautiful treasures & memories with each of the grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife, Rita of Rochester; his children, Dan (Bonnie) Lehnertz of Rochester, Sue (Richard) Danielson of Rochester, Sally (Joel) McGovern of Rochester, Lisa of Minneapolis; his brother, Tom of Rollingstone; 9 adoring grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul; his sister, Mary; and his parents.
