Romeo John Tlougan, age 90, died on May 22, 2016 at Prairie Meadows Living in Kasson. Romeo was born on October 21, 1925 in Quincy Township, Olmsted County, MN to Alfred and Florence Tlougan.
Romeo attended Haverhill Country School. On November 10, 1946 he married Marion Johnson. The couple resided in Byron, MN. Together, they raised four children. He served in WWII in the US Army in the Pacific Theater. In the mid-1950's, Romeo started his own business, Tlougan Oil Company, delivering Mobil Oil products to farmers and service stations in the area. Romeo was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed hunting trips to Wyoming and Colorado. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, friends, and at the Byron American Legion. Following the passing of Marion, Romeo had a special friend, Elsa Schneider.
He is survived by sons Ronald (Wanda Rehder) Tlougan of Red Wing, Duane (Ann) Tlougan of Byron, Shirley (David Dougherty) DeBlieck of Laughlin, NV, ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, siblings Bernard Tlougan, Jeanette Flanders, Leonard (Janice) Tlougan, Ione (Bernard) Leitzen, Marcella (Larry) Swenson, and a sister-in-law Marlin "Tootie" Tlougan.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marion, a son Richard, a grandson Tim, siblings Sylvester (Arlys) Tlougan, Clayton Tlougan, Isadore Tlougan, Robert Tlougan, Charles (Jennie) Tlougan, Dale Tlougan, David Tlougan, Benjamin Tlougan, Darlene Tlougan, and Donald Tlougan.
A funeral Mass for Romeo will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Byron, MN at 11:00AM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 with Father Paul Surprenant officiating. Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Elba, MN following the Mass and lunch. Visitation will be held at the church for 90 minutes prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 119 of Byron.
