The funeral for Roger A. Marcel will be at 11:00am Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, MN with Father Russell Scepaniak officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.

Roger, 59, of Pine Island passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Roger was born February 16, 1958 in Bemidji, MN to Paul and Dolores Marcel.

He attended John Marshall High School in Rochester. On January 11, 1991 he married Joan M. Sturgis of Rochester. The couple moved to a nice hobby farm in rural Pine Island, where they enjoyed caring for their horses. Roger worked as a cook at the Hubble House in Mantorville, MN. Prior to that he owned his own business, Marcel's Family Restaurant in Kenyon, MN.

Roger loved fishing, camping and watching the Minnesota Vikings football and Minnesota Wild hockey games with his brothers in law and nephews. He also enjoyed model railroading and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of 26 years; two brothers, Gary Marcel (Rona) of Las Vegas, NV, and Craig Marcel; one sister, Tina Parker both of Prairie du Chien, WI; many nieces and nephews; his beloved dog and many life-long friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dolores Marcel.
