Roger William Bartelt, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 peacefully at his home near Eyota, MN after a short battle with cancer.
Roger was born April 15, 1937 in Faribault, MN to Raymond and Hilda (Wegner) Bartelt. He graduated from Faribault High School and the Minneapolis School of Business with a degree in business administration. He worked for Gamble Robinson in Minneapolis where he met his wife, Dorothy Kazimour. They were wed November 12, 1966. They were happily married for 49 years and had four children together. Together, they owned several businesses in St. Charles, MN, finishing his working life as a chauffeur in Rochester, MN.
Roger enjoyed sports, especially earlier in life. He played softball and was an accomplished bowler. He liked watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, playing cards, and the company of his 16 grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his children, Jeff (Annette) Bartelt, Lake City, MN, Julie (William) Dawson, Casselton, ND, Janell (Michael) Unfried, East Liverpool, OH, Jason (Aleesha) Bartelt, Eyota, MN; 16 grandchildren, Alexander, Matthew, Thomas, Rachel, Joseph, and Benjamin Dawson, Marie, Joseph, and John Unfried, and Malachi, Therese, Elena, Alexis, Isabel, Bernadette, and Sylvia Bartelt; his sister, Gloria (Maynard) Spitzack, Dundas, MN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, and his parents, Ray and Hilda.
A Requiem Mass on the day of burial will be offered for the repose of the soul of Roger Bartelt on Friday, July 21, 2017, at 12:00pm at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, rural Rochester with the Rev. Paul Skierka officiating. There will be a visitation Thursday from 5-8pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:30pm. Burial will be at Haverhill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Roger would appreciate donations for the offering of Mass for the repose of his soul (mail to 9546 10th St. SE, Eyota, MN 55934). Recitation of the Holy Rosary and prayers for the faithful departed would be greatly appreciated.
