Rodney Michael Miller, 82, died peacefully on October 30, 2020 with his wife at his side.
Rod was born August 9, 1938 in Rochester to Anker and Ragnhild Miller. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1956. Following high school, Rod served in the army for six years. While stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he met and married Veda Hunsley. They returned to Rochester where he worked at IBM until early retirement in 1991 and coached in Rochester City League. They lived and raised three sons in Rochester.
Rod enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool for at least 40 years, ushering for over 40 years at Mayo Civic Center for events, and was a lifetime member of the Eagles. He also enjoyed visiting VFWs and casinos, and watching his grandson, Henry, race in motocross. He kept track of and talked to his grandchildren frequently.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 62 years, Veda; sons, Lonnie and Dennis (Kim) of Rochester; grandchildren, Alyssa of Pine Island and Henry of Rochester; brother, Anker (LaVonne) of Kasson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Garry; his parents; nephew, Michael; and niece, Cheryl.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Kim Kyllo officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. There will be a luncheon at the Eagles Club immediately following the burial.
