June 1, 1935 – August 8, 2017
Robert Leo Nolden, 82, went to be with his beloved Savior Jesus Christ on August 8, 2017. He passed away peacefully at his home in Rochester, MN after a long and courageous battle with Wegener's Granulomatosis.
Bob was born June 1, 1935 in Sauk Rapids, MN to Harold and Marie (Thuringer) Nolden. Bob moved with his family to Rochester, MN when he was 12 and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1953. He served 4 years in the Air Force. On April 28, 1962 Bob married his true love, Joyce Ann Bina, in St Joseph Ridge, WI. He worked for IBM for 30 years retiring in 1987 and then starting his own business, Mid America Data Products, which he ran for 9 years. Bob raised his four boys on a hobby farm in Pine Island, MN.
Bob adored his wife, sons, daughters in law, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed farming, travel, the Minnesota Twins, John Hardys BBQ, fudge, saying the rosary and especially spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by Joyce, his dearly loved wife of 55 years. Four sons, Mark (Bonita) of Andover MN , Bruce (Jeanne) of Forest Lake MN, Scott (Laura) of Eagan MN, and Dale (Amanda) of Jordan MN. Also survived by brother, William (Donna) of Rochester MN and sister, Marilyn (Pat) Probert of Prior Lake MN. 11 wonderful grandchildren (Nora, Nicole, Katie, Paul (Ashley), Allison, Lizzie, Maggie, Luke, Thomas, Nicholas, Andrew). He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary and sister Peggy Munro.
The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday August, 12 at 11:00am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (5455 50th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901.) with Rev. Don Schmitz officiating. The visitation will begin at 9:30am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 92.
