Robert (Bob) James Lovett, 82 passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at his home from complications of Alzheimer's disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Bob was born August 10, 1931 in Jackson, Minnesota, to Richard L. Lovett and Helen A. Plut. They moved to Rochester when he was four years old. He was a graduate of Lourdes High School. He married Darlene B Williams on June 6, 1955, who preceded him in death. On August 20, 2005, he married Barbara (Fischer) Brown. Bob served his country during the Korean War. He returned to Rochester and joined the Rochester Fire Department where he served as a firefighter for 28 years.
Bob was a former member of the Eagles Club, the Elks Lodge and the Rochester Youth Hockey Foundation. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved fishing. In his golden years he enjoyed hiking around the State Parks with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife Barbara; two sons, Richard (Lori) Lovett and Joseph (Sara) Lovett, both of Rochester; two stepsons, James (Suzann) Brown of Stillwater and Michael (Deanna) Brown of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Thomas (Amanda) Lovett, Amy (Greg) Towner, Alexander and Olivia Lovett, all of Rochester; and three step grandchildren, Rachel and Lauren Brown of Austin, TX and Jackson Brown of Stillwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Patrick.
A funeral service will be Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 am, at St Luke's Episcopal Church, 1884 22 nd NW Rochester, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Sparks officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 5 to 7pm at the River Park Chapel of the Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or Mayo Hospice.
