Obituary

Robert  "Bob" Leo Rossman – Rochester

The funeral for Robert "Bob" Leo Rossman will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester with the Rev. LaVern E. Trocinski officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday January 7 th and one hour before the service at church on Saturday.

Mr. Rossman 83, of Rochester Died Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Monday January 3,  2011.

Bob was born March 26, 1927 in Highmore, South Dakota to Leo and Elizabeth Rossman. He moved to Rochester in 1931 and attended Lourdes High School. After high school he enlisted in the army, and served in WWII in Austria. On June 11, 1952 he married Virginia Hofschulte. The couple farmed in the Douglas area. Later Bob worked for Allied Moving Co. and later he drove truck for ROMAC retiring in 1991. Bob and his family have lived in the same home in Rochester for 53 years.

Bob is Survived by his wife Virginia, and nine children.  Steven (Diane) of Madison, WI. ; Dennis (Susan) of Rochester ; Richard (Debra) of Bemidji, MN. ; Michael (Dawn) of Byron, MN. ; Charles of St. Paul, MN. Susan (Mark) Hinrichs  of  Zunbrota, MN. ; Joseph of Rochester; Jane of Rochester MN. ; Lee (Kris) of Byron, MN. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Crystal, Casey, Katie, Megan Rossman, Bryon Pavelka, Daniel Rossman, Tim Hinrichs, and Erin and Jack Rossman. Bob is also survived by his brother William (Sylvia) Rossman of Eyota, MN., and four sisters, Eileen (Francis) O'Brien of Kasson, MN. ; Ann (William) Herman of Cottonwood, CA. Mary Rossman, and Patricia (Harlan) Hebig of Rochester. His Brother-in-law John Daywitt of Rochester also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters  Rita and Margaret and brother-in-law Russell Jones.

Bob was a dedicated father and husband. He was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church. The  Senior Citizens Center. He was active in Boy Scouts and loved to square dance. Bob also enjoyed making diamond willow canes and Adirondack Chairs.
