Robert W. Hain 87, of Rochester MN passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday June 5th after a brief battle with cancer. Bob, as he was known by family and friends was born to William and Myrtle Hain on March 2,1929 in Rochester MN.
The memorial service for Robert Hain will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 9, 2016 in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Horntvedt officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 8, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Thursday. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
Bob lived his entire life in Rochester, except for a couple years spent in California during WWII. Bob, along with his dad founded Hain and Son Auto Body in 1950. He worked there first with his dad and later with his sons who continue to run the business today. On April 5, 1950 he married Neva Street at Hesper Friends church, in Hesper Iowa. Together they raised 4 children. Bob was a dedicated family man who was always there for them.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and would never turn down the opportunity to go. He was still hunting deer and fishing with his son's into his 80's. Bob also enjoyed Hockey. Whether it was sponsoring his son's youth hockey, or still climbing the steps at Graham Arena to watch his grandson play he never lost the love of the game. He particularly liked the Minnesota Wild, he would watch any team that happened to be on TV that night. Bob loved to tell stories, and would share his life experiences with anyone who would listen. Bob loved to work on and restore old cars.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Neva, 4 children, Mike (Sharon Bretto) Hain of Kasson, Linda (Steve) Gilbertson, Tom (Margaret) Hain, and Rob (Darla) Hain all of Rochester,11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Bob was extremely loved and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
