Robert "Bob" Becker of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully at home at the age of 86 on April 12, 2025, in Rochester, MN. Bob excelled at golf and the sport became a lifelong passion. His passing on the weekend of "The Masters" was poetic.
Bob was born in Chatfield, MN on June 28, 1938. Bob was the son of Arthur and Ethel Becker, the eldest of three children. In 1941, the family moved to Austin, MN where Bob attended the Austin Public Schools, graduating in 1956.
In 1955 Bob was introduced to Donna Mae Benson. They would spend the next 70 years together. Bob and Donna married February 8, 1957 and raised four children, Lee (Kathy) of Oro Valley, AZ; Scot (died May 21, 2024); Julie Elliott (Robert) of Coon Rapids, MN: and Jeffrey (Jennifer) of Rochester, MN.
Over those years, the high school sweethearts were truly inseparable, spending their time traveling, dancing, working in the yard, golfing, and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Bob was employed at IBM for 36 years as a Quality Engineer. Over those years Bob formed numerous friendships that spanned decades. Bob was extremely loyal; he & Donna were blessed to have dear friendships that were an integral part of their lives.
"Bob the Builder" was a terrific handyman and loved working on projects at his home or helping others with theirs. Bob was a long-time member of the Elks and Eagles Clubs.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son Scot, grandson Sam, and sister-in-law Margaret.
In addition to his wife, children, and their spouses, Bob is survived by his brother Jerry, sister Debbie (Jim) Schmeichel, daughter-in-law Patty, and 12 grandchildren: Alison (Tony), Ben (Shayla), Travis (Mary), Kelsey (Doug), Jesse (Edna), Jackson (Glenna), Gavin (Tanya), Wesley (Aurora), William (Allison), Andrea, and Sydney (Tanner).
Additional survivors include 14 great-grandchildren: Sage, Akaysha, Kaiden, Rylan, Cash, Korbin, Dillyn, Logyn, Archie, Leo, Liam, Ray, Cleo, and Rowan.
The Memorial Service for Bob will be celebrated at 11:30AM on Monday, April 21, 2025, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
