Rita Ann Cunningham passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024. A devout and lifelong Catholic, she took comfort in knowing she would remain in the arms of her Lord for all time to come.

Rita was born to Arthur R. and Leona A. (Desbiens) Cunningham on August 6, 1937. She remained in Rochester her entire life, attending and graduating from Lourdes High School in 1955. Afterward, she attended the University of Minnesota Radiology School, earning her degree as a radiology technologist. The skills she leaned were put to good use, working as a radiology technologist for Olmsted Community Hospital for her entire career.

Rita had a beautiful singing voice and participated actively in the church choir. She could tell a good joke and was a fierce opponent at cards. In her later years, she was constantly looking for the next best recipe to share with her family and friends.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Leona; brother, R. Kevin Cunningham of Rochester and a niece, Patricia (Kyle) Sayes of Lake Jackson, Texas. She is survived by a brother, Dr. Richard D. Cunningham of Temple, Texas and by nieces Kathleen (David) Baird, Linda (Brett) Wallace and Sheila Cunningham. There are multiple surviving great nieces and nephews.

By her request, there will be no visitation or service. For those of you who knew Rita, please hold her memory in your hearts and know that she is at peace.
