Richard “Rich” George Olson, age 81, of Rochester, MN, passed away on October 13, 2026, in Rochester.

Richard was born on August 31, 1945, in Rochester, MN, to George and Mildred Olson. He was a graduate of John Marshall High School, Class of 1963. In 1964, Rich married the love of his life, Rosemary Supalla. Together, they celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage prior to her passing in 2021.

A skilled mechanic by trade, Rich worked for the City of Rochester, People's Coop Power, and in small engine repair throughout his career. Outside of work, he was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, stock car racing, and cheering on NASCAR and the Minnesota Vikings. Above all else, Rich cherished every opportunity to spend time with his beloved family and friends.

Rich is survived by his daughter, Shelly (Mark) Skaran; his son, Jeff (Rhonda) Olson; his granddaughters, Carlie (Corey) Kohn and Carissa (Garrett) Chaffee; and his great-grandchildren, Colton and Carmryn.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemary, and his parents, George and Mildred Olson, brother Robert Olson and sister Vicky Gacke.

A special thank you to the palliative care team at Mayo, his neighbors Randy & Julie Jacobson, Laura Funk, and his friend Jim “Jimmy” Fricker.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2026, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow at the Eagle’s Club in Rochester.
