Obituary

Richard "Dick" Lee Schulte, 68, of Rochester, Minnesota passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital from complications of heart disease. Dick was born on February 4, 1948 to John (Doc) and Helen Schulte in Minneota, Minn. He attended Central Catholic High School in Marshall, Minn. and graduated from Mankato State in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Dick resided in Rochester where he met Nancy Pfeffer. They married on July 20, 1974 and had two children, Kelly and Matthew. Dick taught at Dover-Eyota Elementary School for 30 years. He especially enjoyed working with children with learning challenges. He treasured the time spent with his students and coworkers. After retiring from teaching, Dick worked at the Mayo Clinic as a Transporter for ten years. He enjoyed interacting with many people from around the world. Dick also volunteered at the Salvation Army for many years. Everyone who met Dick knew he was one of a kind and he will be greatly missed. Dick cherished the visits with his two children and granddaughters, as well as spending time with his siblings and many friends.  Dick's faith was a very important part of his life. Over the years he was active in bible study, ushering and collecting religious keepsakes. Dick loved playing and watching all sports. He also enjoyed collecting various memorabilia. Dick is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Jon) Gedney of Peoria, Ariz.; son, Matt Schulte of Sioux Falls, S.D.; granddaughters Helen Jean and Evelyn Renee; six siblings, Sue (Greg) Cattoor, John, Bob (Barb), Mary Lincoln, Joe (Deb), Anne (Dennis) Heggeseth and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Renee Schulte; and sister-in-law Cathy Schulte. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.
