Richard Alan Gessner, age 62, passed away peacefully at his home on September 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Rich was born on October 11, 1963, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was the son of Alan and Bernadine "Bea" (Mathias) Gessner. Rich graduated from Lourdes High School, where he also played football and wrestled.

Rich had many interests and hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed working on puzzles, collecting coins, train sets and Matchbox cars, building and racing RC cars, attending stock car races, and searching for treasures at thrift stores and flea markets. More than anything, though, Rich loved riding his Harley with his friends.

He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a loyal Diet Pepsi drinker, and someone who truly enjoyed the simple things in life. Rich was thoughtful, generous, and always willing to lend a hand. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back and was always looking out for others.

Rich was also a wonderful and devoted son. One of his cherished routines was taking his mother, Bea, to church every Sunday, followed by breakfast at Perkins.

Rich is survived by his mother, Bea Gessner; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and many good friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alan Gessner.

A Memorial Mass will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of the service.
