Richard Francis Betts, age 70, of Rochester, MN died Thursday, November 28, 2019 at St. Marys Hospital.

Richard was born March 26, 1949 in Stewartville, MN to Laor and Loretta (Cooley) Betts. He graduated from Mayo High School in 1967.

On October 2, 1970 he married Marie E. Block in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple lived in Rochester, MN. Richard worked for the Mayo Clinic warehouse for 38 years. He was an avid softball player for many years. Richard also loved going to the John Marshall basketball games. He loved fishing, camping, and waterskiing with his family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Marie Betts of Rochester, MN; two sons, Todd Betts of LeRoy, MN and Brian Betts of Rochester, MN; daughter, Kelly (Brent) Roelofs of Preston, MN; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Betts of Las Vegas, NV, and Ronald Betts of Rochester, MN; three sisters, Diane (Ken) Hoerner of Rochester, MN, Darlene (Truman) Clausen of St. Paul, MN, and Carol Betts of Las Vegas, NV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laor and Loretta Betts; grandparents, George and Mildred Cooley; sister-in-law, Marvel Betts.

The funeral service for Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
