Reuben Carl Marzolf, age 94, of Rochester, MN. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN.
Reuben was born on January 8, 1921 to John and Anna (Bender) Marzolf in Fountain, MN. Reuben was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Preston, MN. and attended country school in the Fountain area.
Reuben served his country in the Army, stationed in Wisconsin and Alaska and thereafter attended meat cutting school in Toledo, OH. On July 7, 1950, he married Alice (Raabe) Behring,… who had 2 children by previous marriage, Kay Raabe (Saterdalen) and Rodney Raabe. Together they had 2 children, Ricci and Randy and made their home in Rochester.
He worked his entire career cutting and selling meats at Erdman's in Kasson, Rochester Meats, French's Produce and Ye Old Butcher Shoppe, all in Rochester. He maintained many long-time relationships with the restaurants in the Rochester area for over 60 years. He enjoyed playing 500 cards and spending time at their cabin on the Mississippi River.
Reuben is survived by his sister Luella Gilbertson of Austin, MN, sister-in-law Carlie (Harold) of Spring Valley, sister-in-law Averlene (Herman) and brother Carroll both of Preston, special family friend Sally, his children, step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ricci (Laurie) Marzolf of New Hampton, IA.; Robert and Katelynn Marzolf; Randy Marzolf and friend Sue of Kenosha, WI.; Amanda and Haley Marzolf; Kay (David) Saterdalen of Wabasha, MN; Pamela Saterdalen and John (Alaina) Saterdalen; Rodney (Diane) Raabe of Swisher, IA., Jay (Jessica) Raabe; Atticus and Theodore; Kristen (Brad) Koons; Marlee, Addisen and Mckenna; Lindsey Spears; Jaiden and Jenna; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice, sister, Laura, brothers, Edward, Harold, Herman and his grandson Scott Saterdalen.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Chosen Valley Care Center of Chatfield, St. Mary's Hospital, and Meadow Lakes Assisted Living, all in Rochester for the care and attention given to Reuben over the last 5 years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8th at 11:00AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN with Pastor James Heining officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before the Funeral Service at the Church. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester with full military honors after the luncheon.
Macken Funeral Home, Rochester is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church in his memory.
