A Life Remembered: Phat So
Phat So, age 84, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, at 9:10 PM at St. Mary Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Takeo Province, Cambodia, Dad lived a life of strength, service, faith, and devotion to family. He studied in Takeo and later passed the entrance exam for nursing school in 1970. He practiced and worked in the medical field for many years, dedicating his life to helping and caring for others.
In 1974, he married his beloved wife, Saing Kimhov. Together, they built a family and endured many hardships, including the Khmer Rouge era. Through every challenge, Dad remained strong, hardworking, and devoted to those he loved.
Later in life, he moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where he enjoyed his retirement years with his family. He loved traveling, gardening, camping, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Dad was a faithful Buddhist who believed deeply in karma, kindness, honesty, responsibility, education, and integrity. He supported the Buddhist community and taught his family the importance of doing what is right.
He leaves behind a loving family including his beloved wife, Saing Kimhov, daughter Sunneary, his son Sunnara, his in-laws, Puthyrak and Lyhoung, his grandchildren: Sovannakol, Veata, Sunlay, Somnea, and close extended grandchildren Swita, Sabrina, Trisha, Michael, Ryan, and Rothany whom he loved as his own.
Dad, your love, wisdom, and legacy will remain forever in our hearts. May you rest in peace, and may your next life be filled with happiness, peace, and prosperity.
