Obituary

Paul S. Tarara passed away quietly at Pine Haven Nursing Home on Saturday, October 16, 2010.  He is survived by one brother, Richard (Evelyn) Tarara of Rochester.  His wife Rosemary Tarara preceded him in death in 2005.  He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.  He is survived by his six children, Larry (Nancy) Tarara of Albert Lea, Tim (Bonnie) Tarara of Pine Island, Nancy Tarara of Burnsville, Mary Sue Tarara of Omaha, NE, Joseph (Nancy) Tarara of Kennewick, WA, Katie Tarara of Milwaukee, WI.  He has nine grandchildren, Andrew, Benjamin, Shannon, Angela, Wesley, Cameron,  Marissa, Ryan, Maggie and eleven great grandchildren,  Jake, Sam, Natalie, Laney, Brynne, Brooklyn, Drew, Ella, Hunter,  Addelyn and one on the way.

Paul was born in St. Paul, November 26, 1919, and moved to Rochester with this family.  He married Rosemary Beckley on April 12, 1944, at St. Francis Church. They were married for 61 years.  During WWII Paul was an Military Police Sergeant stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.  After the war he was an orthopedic shoemaker and eventually took a job at the Olmsted County Health Dept., as a health sanitarian in the environmental department.   For many years Paul was an active member of the Knights of Columbus 4 th Degree where he was the bowling league secretary and served as a Faithful Navigator, American Legion and the Elk's Club as well as an avid golfer.

In April of 2010, Paul was thrilled to go to Washington DC on the honor flight.  Paul was a resident of Pine Haven for four years.  He continued his wood carving and wood burning.  He enjoyed bingo, card games and Wii bowling.  Paul was crowned Pine Island Cheese Festival King and loved dressing up for all the holidays

Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM  at Macken Funeral  Home followed by a Memorial Mass as St. Francis Church on Thursday Oct. 21 at 11:00 AM.  There will be a private interment at Calvary Cemetery followed by a luncheon at  St. Francis Church. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island, MN.
