Patricia Ann
Schoenfelder
September 29, 1946 – March 15, 2024
Patricia Ann Schoenfelder, 77 of Rochester passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren, on March 15, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Campus, St. Marys Hospital.
Patricia Ann Gulden was born on September 29, 1946 in New Ulm, MN to Eldor and Eunice (Jensen) Gulden. She graduated from St. Peter High School and went on to St. Mary's School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse. On January 11, 1969 she married her forever love, Randall "Randy" Schoenfelder in St. Peter, MN. Together, they made Rochester their home, on the family farm in Marion Township. Her nursing degree quickly turned, reluctantly, into an accounting position for the family farm for many years. Pat loved and lived her Catholic faith by service to Meals on Wheels for over 35 years, the Dorothy Day House for over 25 years, a parent volunteer for 4-H, an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church, and finished her volunteer years by driving for Elder Network. She was a strong advocate for the unborn and practiced this conviction by fostering newborn babies for many years. She enjoyed tending to her garden while on the farm, keeping a meticulous summer lawn, traveling, chocolate of all kinds (especially dark), daily crossword puzzles, walking, and working out. On her final day of life, she would be proud to say she finished her last workout at Planet Fitness! Most importantly, Pat was a devoted wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, a grandmother extraordinaire, and an incredible witness to her faith and to loving others. She will leave us with no regrets of speaking her mind of random thoughts and words of wisdom! Do not mourn for her long, as she lived her life full throttle and received the gift of a happy death.
She is survived by her husband Randy, her children John (Therese), Jeffrey (Jennifer) both of Rochester, son-in-law Shawn Sorrell of Woodbury, siblings Ron (Judy) Gulden of Stillwater, Mike (Jackie Nelson) Gulden of Minneapolis, Mark (Barb) Gulden of San Marcos, CA, William (Holly) Gulden of St. Cloud, MN, grandchildren Tyler (Samantha), Braeden, Krista, Keelyn, Joel, Cassidy, Xi'an, Reilyn, Kelton, Zyana, Jaelyn, Yanise, and great-granddaughter Harriet.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Jill.
The Funeral Mass for Pat will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 11:00AM at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm (with a rosary at 4:00pm) in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, along with one hour prior to the Mass at church. Burial will be at St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery, Simpson, MN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Birthright of Rochester.
