Norbert W. Dietz, 92, of Rochester passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at his home.

Norb was born November 25, 1925 in Wabasso, MN.  Norb lived in various places throughout the US as his family moved about during his childhood.  Norb is a veteran who served in the active Army from 1944-1946 and the reserves until his discharge in 1949. On November 16, 1948 he married Hazel Kirkeeng and they made Rochester, MN their home.  Norb was a licensed watchmaker and worked in that capacity prior to his 25 year career as an electrical engineer with IBM in Rochester, MN. Following the passing of his wife Hazel, he moved into the Homestead in Rochester where he enjoyed his new surroundings with many new friends, various activities, and the staff.

Survivors include his son, John (Mary) of Woodbury, MN and his daughter, Joan (Daniel) McDonald of Ostrander, MN; two grandchildren, Thomas Dietz of Chicago, IL and Tonya (Dustin) Olson of Woodbury, MN; and three great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years and his brother, Leonard.

Norb found great joy in his friends, extended family, vacations and especially his hobbies of bowling, billiards, and fishing.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
