Nicholas James Wagner, 66, of Rochester, MN passed away on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys due to complications from a pulmonary embolism. Nick was born on May 4, 1948, in Red Wing, MN. He graduated from Lourdes High School, class of '66. He joined the Marine Corps in 1969, and served bravely in conflict in Vietnam. He then served the remainder of his enlistment in Okinawa and stateside, reaching the rank of sergeant. As the result of significant injuries incurred in the line of duty while he was serving as an MP in Camp LeJeune, NC, Nick was medically retired. Following military service, Nick attended the University of Minnesota and South Hennepin Technical College. In 1975, Nick, his wife, the former Catherine King, and their daughter, Nicole moved home to Rochester, where he resided for the rest of his life. Nick had a long career in the construction trade, which included several years as a partner in WSW Builders. He retired as a superintendent for Weis Builders.

Nick was a member of the Carpenters Union, the Marine Corps League, the Knights of Columbus, and The Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Lake City Yacht Club, and loved sailing "Summer Wind" on Lake Pepin, especially when his crew included his sons. Following retirement, Nick dedicated himself to his children and their endeavors. His greatest joys in the past year included being a grandfather, traveling with his wife, and the many accomplishments of his children.

Nick is survived by his wife, Cathy; his children, Nicole (Breting Engel), Joseph (Michelle), and Jonathan (Margaret); a granddaughter, Zoe Jean-Louise Engel; his brothers, James (Janice), and Terry (Connie); his father-in-law (Ambrose King); and countless family, friends, fellow builders, and employees. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Theresa, and his infant sister, Mary.

Memorials are preferred to the DOW, Ann Loomis Fund, Toys for Tots, and Habitat for Humanity.
