Nicholas R.
Miner
May 4, 1975 – May 29, 2014
Nicholas Reid Miner, age 39, died in his home on Thursday, May 29, 2014.
Nick was born on May 4, 1975, in Rochester, MN, and is the son of Bob and Carole (Fenske) Miner. He graduated from Lourdes High School in 1993. He had various jobs in Rochester (IBM, Pemstar, and then at Mayo Clinic as a Laboratory Technician).
In 2001, Nick moved to Iowa City, IA, to live with his long-time friends, Mike and Dave Brown. There, he met Missy Noel, and they were married in October 2008. Both worked at the University of Iowa Hospital. Missy passed away in October 2010. Nick then returned to Rochester to live.
Nick was an avid sports fan (particularly the Vikings, Twins, and Wild) and he loved fishing and hunting. He was an enormous fan of the Grateful Dead (Jerry Garcia), and took many road trips over the years with his friends to outdoor concerts. He had all the John Candy and Chevy Chase movies, as well as all episodes of the Sopranos — and could mimic every funny line from these movies. Nick enjoyed spending time with his many friends and his family — and he always had one or two pet dogs by his side.
Nick is survived by his loving parents (Bob and Carole Miner), brother (Mike Macken and sister-in-law, Becky), sister (Molly Williamson and brother-in-law, Mark), and sister (Martha Macken Elliott and brother-in-law, Brian) — all residing in Rochester, MN — as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Preceding Nick in death were his wife (Missy), maternal grandparents (Bette and Durward Fenske) and paternal grandparents (Ken and Mae Miner).
