Muriel A. West, 81, of Rochester, MN died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at St. Marys Hospital. Muriel was born March 13, 1936 in Lanesboro, MN to Alvilde and Selmer Jacobson.

Muriel graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1954. On July 12, 1958, she married Kenwood West at Union Prairie Church in Lanesboro, MN. They started their life together in Rochester, MN eventually moving to Kasson, MN in 1965. They relocated to Florida in 1983 for Ken's job, eventually moving back home to Rochester, MN in 1994. Ken passed away in 1999. They were able to travel many miles around the country pulling their camper after Ken retired.

Muriel served as secretary at Claremont Insurance for many years, as well as waitressing for the Hubble House and was an active volunteer at Mayo for several years. Muriel loved spending time at her camper in Lanesboro, fishing, garage sales, auctions but most of all loved spending time with her family. Her witty attitude and multitude of stories will be missed by many.

Muriel is survived by her daughter, Marsha West of Kasson, MN; and two sons, Brian West of Kasson, MN and Kyle West of Rochester, MN; three grandchildren, Amanda West, Caryn West and Brianna Trejo (Juan Trejo); and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Gullickson of Lanesboro, MN and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, great-granddaughter; sister, Elaine Kraling; and brother, Orel Jacobson.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Pastor John Allen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Union Prairie Cemetery in Lanesboro, MN.
