Mildred Marie "Millie" (Schmidt) Dose, age 95 of Rochester passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Madonna Towers on April 15, 2014.
Millie was born on August 27, 1918 in Lake City, MN to Harry and Augusta (Kuhfuss) Schmidt. She attended school in Lake City, and was a Nurse's Aide at Lake City Hospital. On October 1, 1947, she married George R. Dose at St. John's Catholic Church in Rochester. Beyond being a wonderful homemaker and mother, she was an Olmsted County Home Health Aide. She was an active member at St. John's Catholic Church, participating in the choir and the Altar Society (C.C.W.) Millie enjoyed playing the piano and violin. Her grandfather had the Kuhfuss Orchestra, writing and composing all of the orchestra's music. She was also an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 92 of Rochester. She loved to travel, visiting places such as Rome and the Holy Land.
Millie is survived by her six children, George (Kathryn) Dose of LaCrosse, Thomas (Suzanne) Dose of Denton, TX, Douglas (Sandra) Dose of Rochester, Barbara (Ronald) Whynaucht of Fairfield Glade, TN, Lawrence (Kay) Dose of Rochester, Kenneth (Pamela) Dose of Rochester, twenty-three grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband George (1997), a sister Florence, two brothers William and George, and a great-grandson Spencer.
A Funeral Mass for Millie will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester with Rev. James Russell officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lake City, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, April 21, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and one hour prior to the Mass. A prayer service will begin at 7:30pm during the visitation.
Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
