A funeral service for Melvin E. Klingsporn will be at Noon on Thursday, April 4 ^th in River Park Chapel of Macken Funeral Home in Rochester officiated by Chaplain Karna Anderson. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.

Mr. Kingsporn, age 80, died early Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

He was born Melvin Eugene Klingsporn December 22, 1932 in rural Pine Island, Goodhue County to Joseph and Mildred (Rabehl) Klingsporn. He attended area country school and Pine Island High School. On April 23, 1955 he married Viola Wallace in Rochester.

Mr. Klingsporn farmed in the Pine Island area for many years. In addition, he worked at IBM and later at the Kahler Hotel following his retirement from farming. Melvin enjoyed working on everything mechanical including lawn mowers and old cars.

He is survived by his wife, Viola, one son, Edward (Marianne) Klingsporn of Kenyon, one granddaughter, Nichole Klingsporn of Faribault, and a sister, Joan Koenig of Rochester.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Duane.
