Melvin A Hansen, 79, of Rochester, MN, died Wednesday, April 26, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family.

Melvin was born August 22, 1936, in Tagus, ND to Christopher and Lydia (Schwede) Hansen.  He served in the US Army, and worked as a blacksmith welder. He was a 42 year employee of Crenlo. Inc., where he retired as a Maintenance Supervisor. He married Joyce A Miller on July 7, 1962 in Rochester. Together they raised four children, devoting their lives to their family; and the ever growing family that it is.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Also preceding him, his wife of 53 years, who passed on November 20, 2015.  He is survived by his four children: Bill (Lori) Hansen of Rochester, Chris Hansen of Rochester, Douglas Hansen of Winona, MN, and Melissa (Erik) Brennan of Houston, MN; nine grandchildren: Nicole, Amber, Lisa, Jessica, Michelle, Caitlin, Abby, Gabe and Evi; and three great-grandsons: Liam "Lee-am", Sawyer "Tom Sawyer" and Henry "Hamerin' Hank".

Visitation will be held Friday, April 29 ^th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home.  A private family graveside service will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
