Melbourne "Mel" Bryan Kirkeeng, 86, of Rochester passed away on November 25, 2016 due to an auto accident.

Mel was born on November 5, 1930 to Mengel and Emma (Bakken) Kirkeeng in La Crosse, WI. He graduated from Cashton, WI. His last 14 years of work was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester where he retired in November 1992.

He enjoyed life to the fullest with family and friends and doing the things he loved. Mel is survived by his sister, Ruth Jewson of Rochester,  brother, Manley (Vernice) Kirkeeng of La Crosse WI, brother, Lyle (Josephine) of Janesville, WI, sister, Donna Wilson, Joliet, IL, brother, David (Beverly) Kirkeeng of Rochester. And many nieces, nephews and many very dear friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Mengel and Emma Kirkeeng, brothers; Muriel, Dennis, Lew, Malcolm and sister, Hazel Dietz.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016  from 5:00-7:00pm at the Macken Funeral Home River Park Chapel in Rochester, MN. A private burial for family is planned on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00am at the Fish Creek Cemetery in Rockland, WI.
