Maurine Johnson, 95, of Rochester, MN, passed away Saturday, August 1st.

Maurine was born on March 1931 in Eyota, MN to Ruth and John Schweitzer. Later, they moved to St. Charles, where she went to High School. She and her husband, Glenn, lived in Rochester and were married for nearly 40 years.

As a bright, hard-working and successful woman Maurine, was co-owner and office manager of a successful office supplies company. She was also a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.

Maurine had a big heart, a warm smile, and was known by many as a great cook who loved to entertain. She was also a great listener who was always ready with a pot of coffee. She helped launch her grand-daughter’s business career by giving her the first paying job in “inventory management” at the age of 12. And as a great-grandmother, she was known for always having time for a game and cards, as well as an expert Root Beer Float maker.

She was a member of many women’s and community groups, was a winemaker, and in later years, a key member of a local kitchen band where she sang, danced and played her way into the hearts of, not only her audiences, but also her fellow bandmates.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Ed; her grand-daughter Michelle, two great-grandchildren, and seventeen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, and three brothers.

The family invites those who knew her to the funeral service to be held at 1:30 Tuesday, August 18th, at the Evangel Methodist Church in Rochester with Rev. David Werner officiating. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

There will be a light lunch served following the service, and the burial will be held later in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
