Mary  Ellen Ryan – Rochester

A funeral Mass for Mary E. Ryan will be at 11:00am, Saturday June 4, 2011 at Pax Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Jim VonTobel officiating.  A visitation will be held from 5:00pm – 8:00pm Friday at River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Burial will be at St. Clements Cemetery in Hammond, MN.

Mary Ellen Ryan, 74, of Rochester died Wednesday June 1, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

She was born Mary Ellen Schneider on June 16, 1936 in Rochester, the Daughter of Laurence Schneider and May Moher.  She married George Ryan in 1955.

Mary is survived by her sisters Linda Schaber, Margaret Flanigan and Joanne Kleinman.  She is survived by her sons Terry, Bruce, and Jeff, and her daughter Barb Rogers from Louisville, Ky, 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by four sisters (Angie Rowekamp, Elizabeth Wakefield, Virginia Fitzgerald, and Shirley Fischer) and one brother (Larry Schneider), and her son, Gary.

Mary loved to be independent, and to care for others.   She was a friend to many through her 40 year tenure at Mayo Clinic, starting at Methodist Hospital, most notably in Orthopedics on 10-3.  After retiring from Mayo Clinic, she continued establishing friendships at Northgate as a Day Care provider.

Mary loved Gardening and the Vikings, especially when they won.  She loved having family around.
