Mary Louise (Jordan) Rauen, 91, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026 with family by her side. Mary Lou was born in Salem Township, Olmsted County on August 12, 1934 to Lawrence and DeVera (Stevenson) Jordan. She moved with her family to Stewartville, MN at an early age and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1953 where she participated as a Cheer Leader for the High School Boys Basketball and Football teams. Mary Lou was still doing back-flips for the grandchildren at age 50.

Mary Lou and Edwin Rauen met at the Terp Ball Room in Austin, MN. on New Year's Eve 1953. They were married on June 28, 1955 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville, MN. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this past June.

Mary Lou developed her strong work ethic while working at the Fish House and Tarsella's Cafe during her high school years. After graduating from high school, she accompanied her Uncle Bill and Aunt Luella Stensrud to Europe for 2 ½ months. Upon her return she started at Saint Marys Hospital as a Surgical Technician. She also worked in the same capacity at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN after her marriage to Ed. In December of 1956 Ed and Mary Lou moved from Minneapolis to Rochester when Ed accepted a position at IBM. Their home has always been a place where family members and friends alike were always welcome. The visits lasted anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of years. Ed and Mary Lou were blessed with four children, twelve grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Mary Lou enjoyed accompanying Ed on several of his business trips to both the East and West coasts, London, Venice, Hong Kong and Japan. Mary Lou's true passion in life however was always helping others. In addition to caring for her immediate family, she was also the primary caregiver to an aunt and two great aunts in their later years as well as volunteering at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home for over twenty-five years. In 2007, she was the recipient of the Mayor's Medal of Honor for her efforts on behalf of Services to the Elderly.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband Edwin, children Jody (Maynard) Derby, Kim Rauen, Dean (Sonja) Rauen and Kelly Parish, twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all. Mary Lou was preceded by her parents, Lawrence and Devera and siblings David, Jean, Paul, Richard, Jack and Gerald.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7th in the River Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with the Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester, MN at a later date.
